How to choose welding strips?

Each strip has different technical specifications, providing protection against varying welding intensities. To select the appropriate strips, consider the following:

  • Welding intensity and frequency – the more frequently welding work is performed, the thicker the strips you should use. The lower transparency of PVC welding strips provides better protection against strong radiation.
  • Functionality and Installation Location - The thickness of the strips affects the welder's visibility as well as their ability to move freely through them. When selecting slats, consider their thickness, weight, and length, and choose them to suit the installation location.
  • Transparency Level - DLD strips are available in 4 colors with varying degrees of transparency. Red (the most transparent) works best at workstation entrances, while dark green matte (the least transparent) is ideal for partitions separating welding stations from one another.

Welding strips are made of PVC (polyvinyl chloride) hung side by side with an overlap. They form a flexible curtain that protects against arc radiation during welding. Slats used in welding serve a protective function, which is why they must be certified to the PN-EN ISO 25980 standard.
The main advantage of welding strips and what sets them apart from welding curtains is the ability to walk or drive through the barrier without having to move it aside, which is essential in passageways and at the entrances to welding stations.
The standard thickness for the strips is 2 mm. However, if heavy forklifts will regularly pass over the guard or if the workstation is exposed to heavy impact, we recommend using 3 mm strips.
Yes, to ensure durability and ease of belt replacement, we recommend mounting the slats on comb rails, which allow for free adjustment of the slat overlap. The installation also uses mounting plates and specialized clamps.
All colors in our range comply with the EN ISO 25980 standard, so they protect your eyesight equally effectively. They differ in their degree of transparency – lighter colors make it easier for welders to monitor their work, while darker colors better reduce glare and separate welding stations from one another so that workers do not distract each other.
